You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

Most people I work with are used to coping, getting on with things, managing responsibilities, but underneath, something doesn’t feel quite right.

You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward.

My role is to help you make sense of what’s going on and move forward in a way that feels realistic, sustainable, and right for you.

About Dr Carl Bryce

My Approach

My approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based psychological approaches.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we look at the wider picture, including your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and the context you’re living in.

Instead, we work together to understand what’s keeping things difficult and develop ways of responding that actually work for you.

The aim isn’t quick fixes, it’s helping you move forward in a way that lasts.

My work draws on evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and related models.

My Background

Before training as a psychologist, I served in the British Army, where I worked as a Physical Training Instructor and Communications Specialist.

That experience shaped how I understand pressure, resilience, and how people respond when things feel difficult.

My interest in psychology developed during this time, particularly around how stress affects both physical and mental health.

I went on to complete a degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Health Psychology, and a Doctorate in Health Psychology.

I now work as a Senior Health Psychologist within the NHS, supporting people managing a wide range of physical health conditions.

Alongside this, I offer private one-to-one therapy for adults who feel stuck, burnt out, or are dealing with challenges affecting their wellbeing.

This might include people who are:

  • Living with a long-term health condition

  • Feeling burnt out or off track

  • Struggling with stress, anxiety, or low mood

  • Trying to make meaningful, lasting changes

Who I Work With

I work with adults who may look like they’re coping on the surface, but underneath feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward.

Many people I work with are used to handling things on their own, and aren’t sure if they should be seeking help.

You don’t need to reach a crisis point to benefit from support.

If something doesn’t feel right, that’s enough.

Why People Choose to Work With Me

  • A calm, practical approach, not overwhelming or overcomplicated

  • Down to earth and easy to talk to

  • Focus on meaningful, lasting change (not quick fixes)

  • Experience supporting both mental and physical health challenges

  • A collaborative way of working - we figure things out together
